Ashley Chittenden is a nationally certified pediatric acute and primary care nurse practitioner specializing in pediatric oncology, neuro-oncology, and complex care management. With a career spanning nearly a decade at leading institutions including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the University of Rochester Medical Center, she is recognized for delivering compassionate, evidence-based, and family-centered care to children facing life-threatening illnesses.

Ashley’s clinical expertise spans inpatient and outpatient settings, with advanced skills in procedures such as bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, intrathecal chemotherapy administration, shunt reprogramming, and CAR-T therapy. She is also a leader in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration—developing and spearheading initiatives that optimize patient care, streamline clinical workflows, and enhance team education.

An active contributor to pediatric oncology research, Ashley has presented nationally and internationally, with publications in Pediatric Blood and Cancer and poster presentations at ASPHO, SIOP, and other forums. She holds leadership roles in several professional organizations, including being an inaugural Advanced Practice Provider member of the Posterior Fossa Society, and is a multi-year nominee for the DAISY Award, APP of the Year, and other clinical excellence honors.

Beyond clinical care, Ashley is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of providers, serving as a preceptor, lecturer, and project founder for APP orientation and transition-to-practice initiatives. She is equally committed to community engagement, volunteering with the Michael Napoleone Foundation and serving as a spokesperson for ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital since 2010.

Ashley holds a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. John Fisher College. She is certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in both Acute Care and Primary Care, and as a Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse.
