Daniel Savage, M.D., Ph.D. is a fellowship-trained, board-certified ophthalmologist. He specializes in advanced vision correction including LASIK, PRK, PTK, ICLs, refractive lens exchange, and refractive cataract surgery. He is an expert in corneal transplant techniques including DMEK, DSAEK, DALK, and penetrating keratoplasty. Dr. Savage is also a specialist in the treatment of keratoconus and corneal crosslinking. He is committed to compassionate, patient-centered care, partnering with each patient to preserve and improve vision using the most advanced techniques and technologies available. Dr. Savage welcomes patients of all ages and works closely with his colleagues at the Flaum Eye Institute to ensure every person receives comprehensive, individualized treatment.

Dr. Savage earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester. He also earned a Ph.D. in optical physics from the world-renowned Institute of Optics pioneering laser-tissue interactions in the cornea. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Rochester’s Flaum Eye Institute where he served as Chief Resident and won the Emerging Clinician-Scientist Award. He then went on to complete subspecialty fellowship training in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at the John A. Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah, one of the nation’s top 10 eye centers. During his fellowship, he was elected as Outstanding Fellow of the Year and was appointed as a fellow of the prestigious Heed Ophthalmic Foundation.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Savage is an active researcher and educator. He has presented his work at national scientific meetings and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals covering both clinical and basic vision science. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, SPIE, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
