Dr. Terace Thomas is a pediatric pulmonologist at the University of Rochester’s Golisano Children’s Hospital. Her clinical and scholarly interests focus on improving asthma outcomes and reducing preventable respiratory morbidity by advancing evidence-based communication strategies and addressing barriers to care.

She provides care for children with a broad range of pulmonary conditions, including asthma, cystic fibrosis, chronic lung disease, and medically complex airway disorders. She is particularly interested in strengthening patient- and family-centered communication within pediatric respiratory care and improving systems of care for medically and socially complex children.

Dr. Thomas earned her medical degree from Central Michigan University and completed her pediatric residency at the University of Rochester, followed by fellowship training in Pediatric Pulmonology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. During fellowship, her research examined how social and structural factors influence asthma control, emergency department utilization, and hospital readmissions.

She maintains a strong interest in community outreach aimed at strengthening access to care and improving health literacy, working alongside community networks to support patient- and family-centered advocacy. She is also dedicated to advancing pediatric respiratory care internationally through sustained global health collaboration. At Rochester, she is committed to teaching and mentoring learners across training levels while fostering learning environments where trainees from varied backgrounds, learning approaches, and lived experiences can thrive.
