Professional Background

Dr. Jill Cholette is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the divisions of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and Pediatric Cardiology, and she is the Medical Director of the Pediatric Cardiac Care Center.

Dr. Cholette earned her MD degree from the University of Rochester graduating at the top of her class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Also at the University of Rochester, she completed a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency and went on to complete a Pediatric Critical Care fellowship and then a Pediatric Cardiology fellowship . Dr. Cholette is Board Certified in all four subspecialties.

Research

Dr. Jill Cholette has research interests in thrombosis and use of blood products in critically ill pediatric patients, particularly those undergoing cardiac surgery. Dr. Cholette is working to clarify the role of inflammation in the development of thrombosis, and to determine the optimal anticoagulation regimen for the pediatric post-op cardiac surgery patient.

Her other work involves blood utilization in the pediatric ICU patient, and she is developing a transfusion strategy for the pediatric post-op cardiac surgery patients.

Dr. Cholette's clinical interests are: thrombosis, hemostasis, and inflammation.
