Biography

Parents and children alike appreciate Heidi Connolly, M.D., for the compassionate and understanding care she provides. Dr. Connolly has a diverse knowledge of the field with over 15 years of experience in pediatrics. She also brings a natural ability to connect with children, an asset that is particularly important when children and their families face complex and long-standing medical problems.
Dr. Connolly's diverse training enables her to take a multi-faceted approach to helping families develop care plans that address the impact of medical conditions on their children's lives. Dr. Connolly received her bachelor's degree from Northwestern University followed by her medical degree in 1988 where she participated in the Honors Program in Medical Education. She then completed her residency in pediatrics at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL, where she received the Resident Teacher of the Year Award and went on to become chief resident. Dr. Connolly completed fellowship training in pediatric critical care at the University of Chicago prior to joining the faculty at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. As a faculty member, Dr. Connolly pursued additional fellowship training in pediatric pulmonology and went on to train as a sleep medicine specialist.

Dr. Connolly is board certified in general pediatrics, pediatric critical care, pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine. She is a member of the American Thoracic Society and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. She has expertise in sleep and breathing disorders that affect children with complex medical problems.

Research

Dr. Connolly's interests have shifted toward sleep disorders in children. She currently has active research protocols investigating sleep disordered breathing in children with craniofacial abnormalities (ongoing), and the effects of adenotonsillectomy on sleep disordered breathing in obese children with obstructive sleep apnea (study closed with 250 children enrolled).
