Biography

Patients suffering from severe joint pain describe successful hip and knee replacement surgery as “game changing”. As a UR Medicine orthopaedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstruction (anterior & posterior total hip replacement, total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, and revision total hip & knee replacement) I was initially drawn to my current profession by the impressive results of joint replacement surgery first encountered during my residency training. Years later, I now consider myself a master total joint craftsman grateful for the opportunity to provide transformative joint replacement surgeries to patients in need, and humbled by my role within a larger healthcare team necessary to achieve consistent life altering total joint outcomes. I personally thank you in advance for your consideration of the UR Medicine total joint replacement program. Our experienced, talented, and compassionate total joint team looks forward to supporting your game changing mission.

Research

My research interests are focused upon improving the “value” of total hip and knee replacement surgery, frequently defined by the equation: total joint replacement value = (total joint clinical outcomes + total joint patient care experience)/episode of total joint care costs. “Value” research aimed at improving total joint outcomes and patient satisfaction while decreasing costs serves to benefit the entire healthcare system (patients, surgeons, facilities, and third party payers) and provides me with an opportunity to give back to the profession which has granted me immeasurable rewards.
