Dr. Russell completed a Master's of Clinical Investigation at the University of Rochester in 2012; her thesis was "Program Completion, Lifestyle Changes and Weight Loss by Location of a Healthy Living Program". This study provided preliminary evidence that type of location may be an important element when designing and implementing interventions and that health center based interventions should be a focus of further obesity treatment research. Dr. Russell is the PI on a project funded by the CDC to evaluate a Group Medical visit Model to promote physical activity in underserved populations.

Dr. Russell is the Assistant Residency Director, she has developed an Area of Concentration for residents in Research and has a special interest in integrating the Family Medicine Research Department and the Residency Program.
