I am a board certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in hand, wrist and nerve surgery. I have extensive experience in microsurgery, sports injuries, degenerative conditions of the hand and wrist, compressive neuropathy, as well as complex hand trauma. I have a special interest in severe Duputyren disease of the hand, utilizing innovative dynamic external fixation to improve contractures. My other interests include nerve injuries and complex fracture care. I have been on faculty at the University of Rochester since 2015, primarily practicing at the Strong West/Brockport location.

I am passionate about providing care that is individualized to the patient to maximize function and recovery, through both surgical and non-surgical methods. Education is key to my practice, making sure that no questions are left unanswered and that patients truly understand their disease, injury, and treatment options. My zest for education extends to physicians as well, as I am heavily involved in education of the next generation of orthopaedic and plastic surgery residents and fellows. I am one of the associate program directors for the orthopaedic surgery residency and currently am the interim division chief of hand surgery. My goal is to provide safe, effective, advanced care to all my patients.

At the University of Rochester, my research interests are broad and include attempting to answer questions that are encountered in my daily clinical practice. My research in Dupuytren’s disease includes improving outcomes via the use of a dynamic external fixator, risks of developing palmar fibromatosis following elective hand surgery, and various outcome measures via the PROMIS initiatives. I serve as a grant reviewer for the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF). Additionally, I serve as the hand, wrist and microsurgery editor for the VisualDx Orthopaedic Musculoskeletal Medicine Decision Support Project Editorial Board.
