Brent Sharp is a Certified Nurse Anesthetist currently working at the University of Rochester in upstate Rochester, New York. Born and raised in Parkersburg, West Virginia, he has always had a place in his heart for healthcare.

Brent began his journey into this field after he had moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in the early 1990's and enrolling at one of the few Diploma Schools left in the United States at Presbyterian Hospital. Prior to finishing, he later transferred to a Bachelorette program at Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania for completion of this initial nursing training.

While attaining his degree as a Registered Nurse he worked full time as a certified nursing assistant for the Skilled Nursing Facility at Wesley Village in Pittston, Pennsylvania, and concurrently at Wilke-Barre General Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Brent completed his undergraduate degree at Wilkes University in 1996 graduating Magna Cum Laude. He worked as a Registered Nurse in oncology for three years and a year in surgical intensive care unit at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital prior to starting a Nurse Anesthesia program.

Brent graduated with his Masters in Nursing in March 2003 with Magna Cum Laude honors from University of Scranton, Scranton Pennsylvania where he also received the 'Outstanding Student Award for 2003' for his efforts of his graduating Nurse Anesthesia class.

Brent started at the University of Rochester that same month in 2003. He worked the first three months while he prepared for boards. He has been with the University since and has expanded his care locally into outpatient ambulatory care at Sawgrass Surgery Center/UR Medicine Surgery since its inception and Strong West Surgical Center/UR Medicine. Brent enjoys working in the specialty of pediatric anesthesia.

Brent has worked in other settings such as Clinton Crossing in Rochester, New York providing high turnover anesthesia in an ambulatory center for hand procedures. Additionally he has worked per-diem for West Side Anesthesia Associates from July 2013 through May 2019 at Unity Hospital/Rochester Regional Health delivering anesthesia care for general surgery, laparoscopic gynecologic, hand, foot, total joint arthroplasty of the hip/knee, and cervical/lumber spine procedures.
