Dr. Kaplan is a board-certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and assistant professor at the University of Rochester specializing in the treatment of advanced hip and knee arthritis with total joint replacement and partial knee replacement. His practice focuses on primary and complex hip and knee reconstruction including revision procedures for problematic hip and knee replacements. He employs modern techniques, approaches, and technology to provide up-to-date and evidence-based care that can facilitate functional rehabilitation and rapid recovery while optimizing clinical outcomes for his patients.

Dr. Kaplan is a native of Rochester, NY and completed medical school training in Buffalo, NY followed by his Residency training at URMC, School of Medicine and Dentistry. He then traveled to Indiana University School of Medicine to complete his fellowship training in complex hip and knee reconstruction. While training, Dr. Kaplan received the Louis A. Goldstein and Mildred M. Goldstein Orthopaedic Research Award, which helped him pursue his research focusing on complex revision hip arthroplasty and improving/optimizing patient outcomes after hip and knee arthroplasty. He has special interests in the academic pursuit of improving the field of hip and knee replacement through clinical research and in teaching future generations of orthopedic surgeons how to proficiently perform hip and knee replacement.
