About Me

Professional Background

Amit grew up in Syracuse, NY. He completed his B.A. in Biology at Williams College in western Massachusetts. He started his medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University and graduated from the combined MD, PhD program. His dissertation work focused on ion channel biology in the heart. He subsequ...
Amit grew up in Syracuse, NY. He completed his B.A. in Biology at Williams College in western Massachusetts. He started his medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University and graduated from the combined MD, PhD program. His dissertation work focused on ion channel biology in the heart. He subsequently moved to Bethesda, MD and worked at the NIH studying proteomics during a research fellowship. He completed his internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. After residency, he moved to Rochester and worked at the Cardiovascular Research Institute at Strong Memorial prior to returning to Syracuse once again. Amit worked as a clinician educator at SUNY Upstate Medical University for ten years. He started working as a hospitalist at Strong Memorial in July 2020 and is drawn to collegial environment and educational focus of the division.
