Metcalf Jr., M.D., is Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and serves Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca. He specializes in spine disorders and cancer care. He relocated from Albany, Ga., where he was on staff at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and clinical professor at the University of Tennessee-Memphis since 1994. Metcalf previously practiced at the Columbus Neurological Institute, Hughston Clinic and Neurological Associates in Columbus, Ga., and at Semmes Murphy Clinic in Memphis, Tenn. Metcalf served in Navy from 1976 to 1980 and then on the clinical staff at Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Va. He was also a general medical officer at the Medical Department NNCB-One in New York. He received his undergraduate degree from Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C., in 1976 and graduated from Medical College of Georgia.
