She is extensively trained in sports related knee injuries including ACL and ligament tears, meniscal injuries, and cartilage restoration procedures. Dr. Lander has specialized training and technical expertise in traumatic and degrative shoulder conditions, including shoulder dislocations/instability, rotator cuff tears, and treatment of shoulder arthritis. She treats a full spectrum of musculoskeletal injuries in athletes of all ages with a special interest in meniscal and cartilage repair/restoration and pediatric athletes. Dr. Lander received her undergraduate degree at Fairfield University, as valedictorian, and received the Bellarmine Medal of Honor. She completed her medical school training at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. Dr. Lander went on to complete her residency in orthopaedic surgery at University of Rochester Medical Center. She continued to advance her surgical training by completing a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at Duke University Medical School in North Carolina. During her training, she had extensive experience in sports medicine treating recreational, high school, and collegiate athletes. Dr. Lander prides herself on collaborating with other physicians to achieve optimal results for her patients. Along with her commitment to providing outstanding patient care, Dr. Lander strongly believes in the importance of advancing the field of sports medicine through involvement in research, leadership, education and advocacy. She has authored many scientific articles as well as textbook chapters on topics within sports medicine, and has presented her research at national meetings. She is a rising leader in orthopedics and has completed the Feagin Leadership Program at Duke University, as well as the American Orthopaedic Association C. McCollister Evarts Resident Leadership Forum and Emerging Leaders Program. Dr. Lander provides individualized care to every patient, tailoring treatment to her patients’ specific needs. Additionally, she continues to stay on the cutting edge of orthopedic sports medicine including the use of novel techniques and implants.
