Dr. Hopkin completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wyoming and earned his medical degree from the University of Washington. He completed residency training in the primary care track at the University of Colorado. Before joining Strong Memorial Hospital, Dr. Hopkin spent eight years practicing inpatient and outpatient internal medicine in rural Wyoming where he delivered comprehensive care in a critical access hospital within a medically underserved community.

Dr. Hopkin serves as both the Chief of Hospital Medicine and the Chief of Hospital-at-Home within the Department of Medicine at URMC. In these roles, he leads a distinguished, multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing exceptional inpatient and home-based acute care, advancing clinical and medical education scholarship, and educating future physicians.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Dr. Hopkin is a dedicated advocate for rare disease awareness and newborn screening, and he values time spent with his family.
