Dr. Deines' interests include Pediatric Neurocritical Care, pediatric traumatic brain injury, and medical education from students to fellows. He completed a fellowship in Pediatric Neurocritical Care at URMC in 2021, and is now the co-director of the URMC Pediatric Neurocritical Care Fellowship. He is also the Acting Internship and Fourth Year Director for the Department of Pediatrics.

Dr. Deines' research has focused on transcranial doppler ultrasound in the assessment of children with TBI, intracranial monitoring after brain injury, post-cardiac arrest care in children and optimizing the fourth year of medical school for students matching in Pediatrics.

Dr. Deines' research has focused on transcranial doppler ultrasound in the assessment of children with TBI, intracranial monitoring after brain injury, post-cardiac arrest care in children and optimizing the fourth year of medical school for students matching in Pediatrics.
He is the site investigator for the multicenter P-ICECAP trial studying optimal duration of targeted temperature management after pediatric cardiac arrest.
