Caitlin has a bachelor’s degree in biology from SUNY Geneseo and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Simmons University in Boston. She worked at Boston Children's Hospital first as a surgical coordinator while finishing her nursing degree, then as a RN. She spent her first few years as a RN in the Otolaryngology outpatient clinic. She then transferred to the pediatric cardiology inpatient unit. It was here that she developed her passion for cardiology. While working in cardiology, she obtained her master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
