Michele Smith is an assistant professor of pediatrics at URMC and specializes in pediatric critical care medicine. She received her B.S. in biology from Siena College and her medical degree from the University at Buffalo Jacob's School of Medicine. She went on to complete her Pediatric Residency and Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship at New York-Presbyterian / Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Her research interests lie in asthma-related respiratory failure. She studies critical asthma therapies to understand which therapies are the most effective and safest for the sickest children who are hospitalized with asthma attacks. She also studies novel ways to assess asthma attack severity and treatment responsiveness. She hopes her work will help children with severe asthma here in Rochester and beyond.
