He is a Professor in the Department of Medicine with joint appointments in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and the Department of Public Health Sciences. Dr. Bohjanen graduated from the University of Michigan with an MD, PhD degree in 1993. He then completed an internal medicine residency in 1997 and an infectious diseases fellowship in 2000, both at Duke University. Dr. Bohjanen was a faculty member at the University of Minnesota from 2000 until he joined URMC. At the University of Minnesota, Dr. Bohjanen served in leadership positions that included Director of the Center for Infectious Diseases and Microbiology Translational Research, Program Director of the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program, and Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases and International Research. Dr. Bohjanen is a physician-scientist with a clinical interest in HIV infection and the global AIDS epidemic, and his laboratory research is directed at understanding the regulation of gene expression in human diseases, including HIV infection and cancer.
