Dr. Rao attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s six-year combined BA/MD program, and completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. After completing residency in 2016, he began working as an academic hospitalist at Denver Health. Through his experience as the clinical documentation and coding physician advisor, Dr. Rao has gained expertise in clinical documentation and its impact across the revenue cycle. While maintaining clinical practice, he joined the Brundage Group in 2021, where he serves as an executive physician advisor. Dr. Rao has a coding certification and consults for hospitals across the country in the areas of clinical documentation, coding and utilization management, with a specific passion for educating residents and peers on effective documentation techniques.
