Biography

Professional Background

Dr. Barbut’s clinical interests are in the assessment and optimization of neonatal resuscitation, as well as caring for premature neonates with a focus on pulmonary physiology to prevent the complications associated ventilatory mechanics. He is also interested in the care of complex neonates with congenital anomalies and infants requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.

Research

Dr. Barbut’s research has primarily focused on bronchopulmonary dysplasia, both assessing the epigenetic modifications of DNA hydroxymethylation, as well as the use of lung simulators to teach lung physiology and prevent neonatal lung pathology. He has interests in the further development of medical devices including simulators and tools to better resuscitate and monitor the neonatal population.
