Actigraphy

Actical®

The Actical® is a physical activity monitoring system that provides calculated energy expenditure values for Active Energy Expenditure (AEE) in kilocalories and total Acticalenergy expenditure in metabolic Equivalents per Time (METs) in kilocalories/min/kg. This actigraph can also provide accurate estimates of the total minutes of physical activity during the day as well as the total minutes spent each day in sedentary, low intensity, moderate intensity or vigorous intensity physical activity. The Actical features a variable epoch length which can be set at between 15 seconds to 1 minute and 64K of non-volatile memory. “Non-volatile” means that even if the battery, which can log 4000 hours of runtime, becomes exhausted, the data remain intact. The Actical AEE Algorithm is based on validation studies, copies of which are available upon request. Software supplied by the manufacturer will be used to determine the calories expended during each assessment period.

Actiwatch® – 64

The Actigraph used to assess objective sleep outcomes. This actigraph can also provide accurate estimates of circadian rhythms. The Actiwatch-64 features a variable Actiwatch 64epoch length that can be set for between 15 seconds and 15 minutes, and 64K of non-volatile memory for 45 days of data storage (with epoch length set at 1 minute). “Non-volatile” means that even if the battery, which can log 4000 hours of runtime, becomes exhausted, the data remain intact. The motion data will be analyzed using the Actiware sleep algorithm to provide an assessment of sleep and to delineate “in bed” and “out of bed” portions of the day. Software supplied by the manufacturer will be used to determine percent of sleep during the two portions of the day.

Actiwatch Score

Like all of our Actiwatch devices, the AW-Score actigraph uses actigraphy principles to record activity information and can be used to analyze objective sleep outcomes. This actigraph can also be used to provide accurate estimates of Scorecircadian rhythm. In addition to the objective activity data, Actiwatch-Score allows for recording subjective scores for any parameter that can be classified from 0-15 (scale is programmable), providing a strong enhancement to Patient Diaries. The unique combination of activity and scoring provides an excellent way to correlate activity with other subjective data normally collected by a patient diary. It can also be used to document the effectiveness of interventions on conditions of interest. The Actiwatch-Score includes a programmable alarm to prompt the patient to enter a quantifiable score. Alarms can be set to a schedule or to sound at random intervals.

GT3X Actigraph

The ActiGraph GT3X activity monitor provides physical activity measurements including activity counts and vector magnitude, energy expenditure, steps taken, activity intensityGT3X Activity Monitor levels, MET’s and more. This actigraph can also provide accurate estimates of the total minutes of physical activity during the day as well as the total minutes spent each day in sedentary, low intensity, moderate intensity or vigorous intensity physical activity. The GT3X has an inclinometer to determine subject position and identify periods when the device has been removed. The GT3X has 16MB of non-volatile memory and a rechargeable battery capable of providing power for 20 days between charges.

GT3X Actigraph Sleep Feature

The GT3X can also be worn during periods of sleep to accurately measure the amount and quality of sleep. This device measures Sleep efficiency and other parameters that may indicate sleep problems such as Sleep Onset, Sleep Minutes, Sleep Latency, Number of Awakenings, Wake minutes, Sleep Efficiency, and Average Awake Time.
