Project SEARCH® at New York- Presbyterian Hospital in Westchester is a one-year internship program for young adults with autism spectrum disorder whose goal is competitive employment. The program takes place at New York-Presbyterian Hospital's campus in White Plains, NY, where total immersion in the workplace facilitates the teaching and learning process, and the acquisition of employability and marketable work skills. Students participate in three internships to explore a variety of career paths. The students work with a team that includes their family, an instructor, and a job coach to create an employment goal and support the student during this important transition from school to work.

Typical Daily Schedule

Interns arrive at 8:00 a.m. to complete daily jobs, attend a morning meeting, and complete stations (PSCA curriculum) before leaving for work at 9:15 a.m. Interns are at the job site until 1:45 and have a 45 minute (approximate) lunch break. Before dismissal at 2:30 p.m., interns work on budgeting, goal setting, log their hours, then complete a group lesson/activity (PSCA curriculum) and daily jobs.
