At UR Medicine’s Strong Fertility Center, we proudly support individuals and couples of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship structures on their journey to parenthood.

As the first established fertility center in the upstate region, we have been helping patients from LGBTQIA+ communities conceive for over 30 years with compassionate, respectful, and personalized care.

Personalized Fertility Care for All

Whether you are planning to use donor sperm, donor eggs, gestational carriers, or are looking for guidance on how you and your partner or co-parent can both participate in the family-building process, we are here to support you.

At your initial consultation, you will meet with a physician and members of our dedicated fertility team to discuss your goals and explore all available options tailored to your needs and identity.

Family Building Options May Include:

• Intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF) using donor sperm
• Assistance with sperm donor selection, including access to a list of approved sperm banks certified by the American Association of Tissue Banks and the New York State Department of Health
• Partner-assisted reproduction, sometimes called reciprocal IVF, where one partner provides the eggs and the other carries the pregnancy
• Fertility preservation for transgender and gender-diverse individuals prior to medical or surgical transition
• Consultation and coordination for gestational carrier arrangements (when needed)

Getting Started

During your first appointment, your provider may recommend preliminary fertility testing or lab work to help guide your care plan. Every journey to parenthood is different, and we are committed to helping you move forward with clarity and confidence.
