Run or Walk with Greater Purpose!

Moms, dads, brothers, sisters, cousins, friends and neighbors. These are the people in our lives and in our communities who each day await and recover from a life-saving organ transplant.

For those most intimately acquainted with the medical miracle of organ donation and transplantation, the Rochester River Run plays a critical role in supporting quality experiences and healthy outcomes for them, their families and our communities.

All money raised goes directly to providing heart, liver, kidney and pancreas transplant patients with financial assistance before and after surgery—helping supplement the costs of medication, lodging and other health care expenses.

Additionally, this poignant event promotes awareness, knowledge and support for the organ donation registry, and includes a special ceremony celebrating organ donors and recipients.

How to Participate

Run, walk, build a team, or pledge your support for this deeply meaningful cause.

The Rochester River Run typically takes place each April in observance of National Donate Life Month, and features a scenic USA Track & Field-certified race course (#NY15140KL) along the Genesee River.

The 2024 Rochester River Run will be held on Sunday, April 21. Sign up here!

We also invite supporters to make a directed contribution to the Transplant Patient Fund. Every dollar helps make a difference for patients and their families.

Pass Life On!

Please consider joining thousands of our neighbors by adding your name to the organ donor registry. You have the power to save up to eight lives! Visit PassLifeOn.org to learn more and add your name to the organ donor registry.

The Rochester River Run is a collaboration between Friends of Strong Memorial Hospital, UR Medicine’s Transplant Program, and Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network. Thanks to your generosity and support, we've raised more than $330,000 since the Run's 2001 inception.
