Strong Surgical Center
Primary focus to provide post-op care for those patients scheduled as 23 hour surgical and medical procedures, with occasional pre-op preparation for surgery/procedure. Work collaboratively with other disciplines such as physicians, residents, NP’s, Admitting, Physical therapy and social work on the progression of patients in their post-op process and toward their discharge. The Strong Surgical Center (SSC) provides pre-procedure services to more than 80% of all surgical patients at Strong Memorial Hospital. These include Ambulatory Surgical Patients (ASC); patients undergoing medical or surgical procedures which go home the same day, Same-day 23-hour Patients (SD23); patients undergoing medical or surgical procedures which require a stay of less that 24 hours, and Same–day Patients (SDA); patients undergoing medical or surgical procedure which require admission to an inpatient bed. The SSC also provides Phase II recovery for patients that will go home the same day as their surgery or procedure.
PACU Post Anesthesia Care Unit
Responsible for recovering post-op adult patients. Enjoy working as part of a team in a fast-paced nursing environment with a wide variety of post-op patients. PACU, ICU or two years medical/surgical experience preferred. Positive attitudes and direct communication are the unit standard. Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently needed.
PSS – Pediatric Surgical Suite
This unit admits, recovers and discharges ambulatory surgical pediatric patients. SDA and in-house pediatric surgical patients are also cared for here. Opportunity to work in a family oriented pediatric surgery center with in-patients and out-patients. Pediatric experience required. PACU, PICU, Med/Surg, and/or critical care experience preferred There is a variety of level of acuity and age ranges from infants to teens.
The OR cares for a wide variety of patients. Specialties include orthopaedics, general surgery, plastics and reconstructive surgery, urology, cardiac, neuro, vascular, ophthalmic, GYN, ENT, thoracic, oral-maxillofacial, and trauma (level 1 trauma center). Their are 2 Davinci robots that are used by urology and GYN. The transplant program involves livers and kidneys as well as hearts. Using a multidisciplinary approach, the OR staff cares for patients of all ages. As part of the Golisano Children’s Center, the pediatric team specializes in meeting the needs of the pediatric population. New graduates welcomed!
Patient Evaluation Center (PEC)
This area provides preadmission testing, history and physicals, and pre-surgical screening with the goal of appropriate medical preparation for surgery or medical procedure.
