Meet the 2026-2027 Intern Class

Taylor Broudy, MD

Howard University

Broudy is a native of Patterson, California, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Davis, where she graduated with honors. She received her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine and dedicated a year of her training to research at Children’s National Hospital, where she studied neuroinflammation using CSF proteomics within a traumatic brain injury–focused laboratory. She has also contributed to award-winning, AI-driven research presented at MICCAI 2025, focused on improving diagnostic capabilities in resource-limited settings. Her work has resulted in multiple peer-reviewed publications and presentations at both national and international conferences.

Prior to medicine, Dr. Broudy performed as a professional ballerina with Central West Ballet, an experience that continues to shape her discipline and approach to patient care. During medical school, she also volunteered as an assistant instructor with Dance for Parkinson’s Disease at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, where she helped lead therapeutic movement sessions for individuals with Parkinson’s disease.

In her free time, she continues to train and perform in ballet while also enjoying travel and cooking.

Kohei Chida, MD

Shinshu University

Kohei graduated from Shinshu University and trained at Okinawa Chubu Hospital and Hirosaki University in Japan before working as a research fellow at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is interested in surgical oncology with a focus on HPB surgery. His current research focuses on how nerve-related inflammation (neurogenic inflammation) influences cancer metastasis. 

Outside of work, he is a Bills fan and enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife.

Benjamin Dale, MD

University of Buffalo

Benjamin grew up in Rochester, New York, and attended the University of Rochester, where he studied Molecular Genetics and Spanish. He then spent 4 years in Buffalo, where he received his medical degree from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biological Sciences. 

In his free time, he enjoys cooking, reading, lifting, and outdoor activities.

Jessica Fanelli, MD

Tulane University

Jessica is a native of Avonmore, PA and attended Wake Forest University for her Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in chemistry. She then spent two years conducting clinical research for the Department of Anesthesiology at Wake Forest Baptist Health. She continued her education, earning her medical degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. 

In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, yoga, exploring coffee shops, and spending time with her partner, Nick, and their puppy, Maple.

Alexandria Giese, MD

University of Rochester

Alexandria earned her Master’s in Statistics from the University of New Hampshire and worked as a data scientist in healthcare technology prior to receiving her medical degree from the University of Rochester. 

In her free time, she enjoys running, hiking, playing pickleball, and baking.

Aparna Ragupathi, MD

Rutgers University

Aparna is a New Jersey native and attended Rutgers University, where she studied biology and journalism. She earned her medical degree at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and is particularly interested in the role of communication in complex surgical decision-making. 

Outside of the hospital, you can find her weightlifting or sharing her creative writing at an open mic.

Nicole Russell, MD

Anne Burnett Marion

Nicole attended Union College in Schenectady, NY, where she played NCAA Division 1 Women’s Ice Hockey for two years prior to transferring to Boston College, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She then went on to complete a post-baccalaureate pre-medicine program at George Washington University. Prior to medical school, she worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she contributed to a wide range of clinical research, including several NIH-funded clinical trials. She attended medical school at the Anne Burnett School of Medicine at Texas Christian University, during which she completed a research fellowship through the Medical Research Scholars Program at the National Institutes of Health in the Department of Surgical Oncology and was actively involved in the Department of Bioethics. Her clinical interests include trauma and surgical critical care, and her research focuses on palliative care, withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment, and serious illness conversations in the surgical trauma intensive care unit. 

In her free time, she enjoys being outside and considers Texas home.

Adam Visca, MD

University of Rochester

Adam was born and raised in Rochester, New York. He graduated summa cum laude from SUNY Geneseo before returning home to Rochester to research stem cell transplantation after spinal cord injury. While in medical school at the University of Rochester he lectured students on abdominal anatomy and developed the school's curriculum on treating patients with developmental disabilities. 

In his free time, he loves sports and ice climbing, hiking, building computers and cooking.

Rachel Droznik, MD

University of Buffalo

Rachel attended Baruch College, where she graduated with a degree in Biological Sciences. She spent one year working as a medical assistant before receiving her medical degree from the University at Buffalo. 

In her free time, she enjoys baking, crocheting, and spending time with her dog.

Madison Ives, MD

Augusta University

Madison is a Georgia native who earned her bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology before attending Medical College of Georgia. 

In her free time, she enjoys cooking, baking, singing, and weightlifting.
