James DeCaro, Ph.D.

I have been engaged in the postsecondary education of people who are deaf for 40 years. During that time I have served in major administrative posts that have had as their responsibility the oversight of academic, student affairs, counseling and psychological services for men and women who are deaf.

My focus upon health care issues pertaining to deafness came with my assuming membership of the board of Highland Hospital of Rochester (where I served a term as chair). Further serving on the board of directors of Strong partners Health Care System also resulted in my becoming intimately familiar with health care issues as they relate to deafness. My administrative experience and my experience in the health care system make me qualified to monitor progress and advise the project team.
