Tiffany Panko, M.D., M.B.A.
Tiffany Panko is a postdoctoral fellow under the mentorship of Dr. Ann Dozier, Ph.D., in the Department of Public Health Sciences. A native of Rochester, NY, she was born to deaf parents and like them, she stayed in the area after college. After receiving her BS in psychology and her MBA at RIT, she worked at the National Center of Deaf Health Research as a Health Project Coordinator before starting medical school. She is returning to public health research after earning her MD from the University of Rochester School of Medicine in 2016. Before becoming an RPP scholar, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the NTID Center on Cognition and Language. Her research interests include health literacy, access to health care, and women’s health issues such as unintended pregnancies and interpregnancy intervals.

My work aims to identify facilitators and barriers to effective contraception, particularly in deaf women. I want to promote use of more effective contraception, such as long-acting reversible contraceptives like IUDs and implants, with the goal of reducing unintended pregnancies and the associated negative health consequences.
