Wilmot ASCO Oncology Summer Internship

The ASCO Oncology Summer Internship (OSI) was launched in 2021 to introduce rising second-year medical students from populations underrepresented in medicine (UIM) to the field of oncology. This immersive, paid internship aims to increase diversity in the representation of oncology professionals and strengthen the oncology workforce.

The program defines UIM as individuals from racial and ethnic groups such as Blacks or African Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, American Indians or Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and other Pacific Islanders, individuals with disabilities, and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. Additionally, underrepresentation can vary from setting to setting, and those who have experienced discrimination or come from historically underserved racial or ethnic groups may also be considered underrepresented by the applicant's institution.
