BMT Nurse Coordinators
The BMT nurse coordinator works with the patient, physician, financial coordinator, social worker, and other teams, including the NMDP, to organize all aspects of care before and after the transplant. In conjunction with the BMT attending physician, the nurse coordinator is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients throughout the continuum of care. In addition, the nurse coordinator facilitates the referral and testing process, conducts patient and staff education, and assists in arranging outpatient care leading up to and following transplant, including long-term follow-up as needed after the patient returns to the referring physician.
