Biography

Professional Background

Dr. Wang earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, VA. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Wang continued his education and completed a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery Associates with Yadro Ducic, in Fort Worth, Texas.

His clinical interests include:
• Advanced reconstruction in head and neck oncology
• Open approaches to skull base tumors and reconstruction
• Virtual surgical planning in head and neck reconstruction and complex craniofacial defects
• Full spectrum of facial plastic surgery including skin cancer reconstruction, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, facial paralysis, facial trauma, and facial rejuvenation
• Microvascular free tissue transfer to the head and neck

Research

Dr. Wang's research interests are centered on prior grant funded projects he participated in during his residency at the University of Rochester. He has obtained several grants through the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He was awarded the Leslie Bernstein Resident Research Grant in a project "Optimizing bone allograft in craniofacial defect reconstruction." His interest in clinical education has led to funding through the Wallace K. Dyer Clinical Investigation Grant on a project titled "The Role of Cost-Effective Surgeon Point-of-View Video Recording in Otolaryngology Residency Operative Training."

Research Interests Include:
• Tissue engineering for the head and neck, particularly bone and cartilage grafting
• Patient reported outcomes in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery
• Point of view technology in surgical trainee education
