URMC / Coronavirus (COVID-19) / UR Medicine Employee Testing

Guidance for URMC Employees with Symptoms

If you require immediate medical attention, call 911.

If you require non-urgent medical advice, evaluation or treatment, please contact your primary care physician (PCP) or other personal healthcare provider.

Employees must notify their manager or supervisor of absence from work following their department’s call-in procedures.

Employees with symptoms which suggest an infectious illness should be fever free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication, and symptoms should be mild and improving before returning to work. Symptoms that suggest infection may include but are not limited to fever, chills, cough, congestion, runny nose, sore throat, difficulty breathing, muscle or body aches, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of appetite. Please refer to the Work Restrictions for SMH Employees with Infectious Diseases policy for further guidance (VPN may be required to access this website).

Employee Health no longer routinely provides COVID testing. If you feel you need to be tested for COVID, please use a home test or contact your personal healthcare provider.

If you test positive for COVID, please send a copy or photo of your results along with your full legal name, date of birth, and date of symptom onset to SMHEHTesting@urmc.rochester.edu from your University email address, or call 585-275-6040 (Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM).

Employee Health staff are unable to answer questions related to contagion pay. Please contact Human Resources at 585-ASK-URHR or ASK-URHR@ur.rochester.edu with questions about this University policy.
