Konstantinos Chochlidakis, D.D.S.

Konstantinos Chochlidakis, D.D.S.Assistant Professor of Clinical Dentistry

Dr. Konstantinos Chochlidakis received his dental degree from the University of Athens, Greece in 2008 and then joined the Greek Army as a soldier dentist for one year. Following the military, Dr. Chochlidakis moved to the United Kingdom and worked as a general dentist, serving in the National Health Service and private practice. He specialized in Prosthodontics in 2013 at Eastman Institute for Oral Health, University of Rochester. In 2013, he joined Temple University for two years as a full-time Assistant Professor and Co-Director of Clinical Fixed Prosthodontics in the Restorative Department, Kornberg School of Dentistry.

In 2015, Dr. Chochlidakis returned to URMC as Assistant Professor and Clinic Director at EIOH's Prosthodontics Department. He has several publications in peer-reviewed journals and his research interests are focused on the complications of dental implants, digital dental technology and ceramic dental materials. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontists and holds memberships in several dental organizations including the American College of Prosthodontists, American Prosthodontic Society and International Team of Implantology. He maintains a faculty practice limited to Prosthodontics.

Carlo Ercoli, D.D.S.

Carlo Ercoli, D.D.S.Professor, chairman and program director

Dr. Carlo Ercoli graduated from the “Enrico Berlinguer” Dental Technology Institute in Rome in 1987 and obtained his dental degree from the University of Siena, Italy in 1993. He specialized in Prosthodontics in 1996 at the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, New York, where he also completed a one-year training in Temporomandibular Joint Disorders in 1997. In 2012, he achieved specialty certification in Periodontology at the University of Rochester Eastman Institute for Oral Health. He is currently Professor, Chairman and Program Director of the Prosthodontic Specialty Training Program at the University of Rochester, Eastman Institute for Oral Health and a faculty member of the Periodontology Program.

Dr. Ercoli is a diplomate of the American Boards of Prosthodontics and Periodontology, an ITI Fellow and holds memberships in several dental organizations including the American Academy of Periodontology, the American College of Prosthodontists, Academy of Osseointegration, American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics and American Prosthodontic Society. He is a Past President of the American Prosthodontic Society, Executive Council Member of the Academy of Prosthodontics and The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry and a Honorary Member of the Italian Academy of Prosthodontics.

He maintains a faculty practice limited to Prosthodontics and Periodontics. He has lectured nationally and internationally on several topics related to clinical prosthodontics and implant dentistry.

Izchak Barzilay, D.D.S., Cert. Prostho., M.S., F.R.C.D.(C)

Dr. Izchak Barzilay received his DDS from the University of Toronto in 1983, a Certificate in Prosthodontics from the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, NY in 1986, and a MS from the University of Rochester in 1991.  He is currently Head of the Division of Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry, Mt. Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Ont.; Adjunct  Assistant Professor, Division of Prosthodontics of the Eastman Department of Dentistry, University of Rochester, Rochester, NY; Professor, George Brown College of Applied Arts and Technology, Toronto, ON; Associate in Dentistry, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ont.; Chief Examiner in Prosthodontics – Royal College of Dentists of Canada;  Past - President of the Association of Prosthodontists of Canada: Past President - Ontario Study Club for Osseointegration.; Council and Executive Member for the American Prosthodontic Society (President in 2020);Member of Executive Council for the Academy of Prosthodontics (President 2023); Advisory Board - International Society for Digital Dentistry; Medical Advisory Board Member – Sjogren’s Society of Canada,; Publication reviewer for Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry,  and is in private practice limited to prosthodontics and implant dentistry in Toronto, Ont. 

Antonio Bello, D.D.S.

Dr. Antonio Bello graduated Magna Cum Laude from Universidad Tecnologica de Mexico in 1982, earning his DDS degree. He specialized in Prosthodontics from 1982- 1984 at the Eastman Dental Center, University of Rochester, Rochester N.Y, where he is an Adjunct Assistant Professor.

Dr. Bello holds memberships in The Academy of Prosthodontics,  Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, American Prosthodontics Society, American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists and The Pierre Fauchard Academy. He is a Past President of the American Prosthodontics Society and The Mexico City Prosthodontic Society. He is a Founder and Diplomate for the Mexican Board of Prosthodontics, International Councilor for International College of Dentists.

He maintains a full time practice limited to prosthodontics. He has lectured worldwide in the fields of Prosthodontics and Esthetic Dentistry.

Dr. Gabriela Carranza

Gabriela CarranzaClinical Instructor

Dr. Gabriela Carranza obtained her DDS from the Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala. Upon completing her degree in dentistry, she attended New York University for a one year International Prosthodontics Program. This led to being offered a fellowship position in the international program where she taught third-year dental residents as well as dentists in the international program.

Following her fellowship she also completed a 3-year residency in Prosthodontics at New York University. After completing five years of postgraduate study, she moved to Rochester to complete a one year Implant Surgical Fellowship in Prosthodontics at the Eastman Institute of Oral Health, studying under Dr. Carlo Ercoli.

Most recently she completed the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program at Eastman, and serves as a clinical instructor in the Prosthodontics and General Dentistry Department. She has a passion for teaching dentistry, especially prosthodontics and takes great pride in providing exceptional patient care.

 

Rafael Del Castillo, D.D.S.

Dr. Rafael Del Castillo obtained his dental degree from the University of Granada, Spain in 1995.Then, he obtained his Certificate of Specialist in Prosthodontics in 1999 at Eastman Institute for Oral Health, in Rochester, New York. He has served as Clinical Assistant Professor at the Department of Restorative Dentistry, University of Murcia, Spain from 2000 to 2002 and as Lecturer for the Continuing Education Program on Aesthetics and Restorative Dentistry for the Spanish Prosthodontic Association (SEPES) from 2010 to 2012. In 2015 he was appointed as Clinical Assistant Professor at the Department of Prosthodontics, Eastman Institute for Oral Health.

Dr. Castillo holds memberships in several dental organizations including the American College of Prosthodontists, Academy of Osseointegration, American Prosthodontic Society and Spanish Prosthodontic Association. He is currently Clinical Assistant Professor at the Department of Prosthodontics, while he maintains a full time private practice limited to Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry in Alicante, Spain. He has lectured nationally and internationally on several topics related to clinical prosthodontics and implant dentistry and he is the author of several scientific articles published in international peer reviewed journals.

Marco Ferrari, M.D., D.M.D., Ph. D

Adjunct Professor

Professor and Chair of the Department of Prosthodontics and Dental Materials at the University of Siena, Italy. He is also Dean of the School of Dental Medicine of the University of Siena. Dr. Ferrari obtained his MD (1983) from the University of Pisa, DMD from University of Siena (1987) and Ph D from ACTA, Netherlands (1995). He implemented the international Ph D program on Dental Materials and their clinical applications and later on Dental Biotechnologies, in the University of Siena. 

He is also Professor of Restorative Dentistry at Leeds University UK, Research Professor at Tufts University, Boston, Adjunct Professor of Rochester University, and Visiting Xi’an University. He is Past President of European Federation of Conservative Dentistry, Academy of Dental Materials and Continental European Division of IADR actually is Treasur of DMG of IADR.

Dr. Ferrari has published over 380 research papers, has 1 patent and other 2 pending applications. His research focuses was for a long time on bonding, resin composites and reinforced restorative materials, and then on zirconia, lithium disilicate, luting materials, and digital dentistry.

He is Editor of Journal of Osseointegration, sits on Editorial boards of some journals and serves as referee for all major journals in dentistry.

Vladimir Frias, D.D.S.

Assistant Professor

Dr. Vladimir Frias received his Doctor of Dental Surgery and Master of Science in Prosthodontics from Columbia University in New York City in 2003. He completed his residency in Prosthodontics at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center followed by a Maxillofacial Prosthetics and Oncologic Dentistry Fellowship at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center/Bronx Veterans Administration Medical Center, and the Nobel Biocare Implant fellowship at the New York Presbyterian Hospital.

Dr. Frias is the recipient of the Joseph Barron award for excellence in maxillofacial prosthetics from the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics and the ESPE research fellowship in geriatric prosthodontics from the American College of Prosthodontists. He has lectured and been published extensively in the fields of Maxillofacial Prosthetics and Implant Dentistry.  He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Rochester Medical Center and the attending Maxillofacial Prosthodontist at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health and Strong Memorial Hospital.  He also maintains a private prosthodontic practice in Batavia, NY where he runs the New York Maxillofacial Foundation which helps uninsured patients afford Maxillofacial Prosthetic treatment.

 

Dr. Gerald N. Graser

Professor

Dr. Gerald N. Graser attended the University of Buffalo as an undergraduate and graduated from the University of Buffalo School of Dentistry in 1968. He then served two years in the United States Air Force Dental Corp at the rank of captain with assignments to Edwards AFB, California, and Bien Hoa AFB, Vietnam. Upon his return he entered the Prosthodontic Residency at Eastman Dental Center, Rochester, New York.

He completed his specialty training in 1972 and was in private practice from 1972-1978. During this time he began teaching part-time at Eastman Dental Center and completed a Master of Science Degree from the University of Rochester in 1975. Dr. Graser was recruited to be Chair and Program Director of the Department of Prosthodontics, Eastman Dental Center, in 1977 and remained Chair until 2006 when he stepped down and was named Professor Emeritus in 2010. Dr. Graser achieved diplomate status of the American Board of Prosthodontics in 1977. He has held memberships in a number of dental organizations including the American Dental Association, the New York State and Monroe County Dental Societies, the American College of Dentists, the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics, and the American College of Prosthodontists. He was past President of the Academy of Prosthodontics, the Academy of Osseointegration, the American Prosthodontic Society, and the Prosthodontic Section of the International Association of Dental Research. 

Dr. Graser has received a number of awards and recognition including the President’s Award of the American College of Prosthodontists, the Gold Medallion Award of the American Prosthodontic Society, and the Graser Fellowship at the University of Rochester. 

 

Effrat (Effie)  Habsha, BSc, DDS, Dip. Prostho., MSc, FRCDC

Dr. Effie Habsha received her Bachelor of Science degree and earned her DDS degree from the University of Toronto.  Upon graduation, she completed a one year General Practice Residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, ON.  Dr. Habsha received her Diploma in Prosthodontics and Master of Science degree, both from the University of Toronto.  She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC) and is an examiner and Section Head for the Oral Examination in Prosthodontics for the RCDC.  Dr. Habsha is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Dentistry, Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She has served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto and currently instructs both at the undergraduate and graduate level in Prosthodontics at U of T.  Dr. Habsha is a Professor at George Brown College of Applied Arts and Technology and is the On-staff Prosthodontist at Medcan clinic in Toronto. She holds an appointment as Staff Prosthodontist at Mount Sinai Hospital where she instructs the dental residents and is involved in various clinical research projects.  Dr. Habsha is an Associate Fellow of the Academy of Prosthodontics and a  Fellow of The Pierre Fauchard Academy and holds memberships in numerous Prosthodontic organizations and societies.  She lectures both nationally and internationally on various Prosthodontic topics and maintains a private practice limited to Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry in Toronto.

Julian Kahn, D.D.S.

Julian KahnDr. Julian Kahn obtained his dental degree at Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University in 1992. He completed specialized training in both general dentistry in 1997, and Prosthodontics in 2003 at the University of Rochester, Eastman Institute for Oral Health. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Eastman Institute for Oral Health. He Received the Basil Bibby award for research and the Part Time Faculty Clinical Award at the University of Rochester, Eastman Institute for Oral Health.

Dr. Kahn is a member of the American College of Prosthodontists, Academy of Osseointegration, American Prosthodontic Society and American Dental Association.

He maintains a private practice limited to Prosthodontics and Restoration of dental implants in Rochester, New York.

Heeje Lee, D.D.S

Heeje Lee, D.D.S.Clinical Assistant Professor

Dr. Heeje Lee is originally from Seoul, South Korea. He received his D.D.S. degree from Yonsei University College of Dentistry in 1997, and a Certificate in Endodontics from the Samsung Medical Center in 2000. He then worked at the Police Force General Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for 3 years. He volunteered for this position which was provided by South Korean government's overseas aid program. In 2004, he moved to the U.S. to study Prosthodontics for his second specialty at the Eastman Dental Center, Rochester, NY. After graduating with the honor of the NYSDF Deans Award in 2007, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Prosthodontics, LSUHSC School of Dentistry, New Orleans, LA. Currently, Dr. Lee is the owner of the Evergreen Dental Oral Rehabilitation Center at Coppell, TX. While working in the private practice area, Dr. Lee is still actively involved in academic activities as a Clinical Assistant Professor at University of Rochester Eastman Institute for Oral Health, and a Member of Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. He has published numerous scientific articles in peer review dental journals and has given lectures both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Panos Papaspyridakos DDS, MS, PhD

Visiting Assistant Professor

Dr. Panos Papaspyridakos received both his Certificate of Specialty in Prosthodontics and M.S. degree with honorary distinction from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York.

Subsequently, he received his Certificate of Fellowship in Implant Dentistry from Harvard University School of Dental Medicine. He also holds a D.D.S. degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and a Ph.D. degree in Digital Implant Dentistry from the National University of Athens School of Dentistry.

Dr. Papaspyridakos has published more than 40 articles in international, peer-reviewed journals and has authored several book chapters in 3 Implant Dentistry textbooks, while he serves as reviewer for several dental journals.

He is a fellow of the ITI and the GNYAP and he lectures extensively on dental implants and esthetics in national and international dental meetings, having received multiple educational awards.

Currently, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Postgraduate Prosthodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester Eastman Institute for Oral Health, and he maintains a part-time private practice limited to Prosthodontics in Boston.

Carlo E. Poggio, DDS, MSD, PhD

Carlo E. Poggio, DDS, MSD, PhD is owner of Studio Associato Poggio, an interdisciplinary dental practice with more than 50 years of history located in the heart of Milan historical center. Active Member AIOP (Italian Academy of Prosthetic Dentistry), Active Member SIDO (Italian Society of Orthodontics), Active Member SIdP (Italian Society of Periodontology and Implantology), International Member APS (American Prosthodontics Society), Associate Fellow AP (Academy of Prosthodontics). He is also a Visiting Professor for Interdisciplinary Treatments at the Postgraduate Program in Orthodontics in the University of Milan, an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Prosthodontics, University of Rochester (NY), and a Visiting Professor at the Dental School in the University of Siena. He is a member of the Cochrane Oral Health group (Manchester, UK) and President elected of the Italian Academy of Prosthetic Dentistry (AIOP).

Evangelos Rossopoulos , D.D.S.

Adjunct Professor

 Dr. Evangelos  Rossopoulos received his dental degree from the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki (his hometown), Greece, in 1980. After practicing for a year at a remote mountain village, he decided to do an one-year General Dentistry residency at the world renown Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, New York. He then went on and completed his three year prosthodontics residency and received his certificate in Prosthodontics. In addition, he joined the faculty and became a full time clinical instructor at the same institution until 1986 when he relocated to California and dedicated himself into his private practice. He currently holds the position of assistant professor, at the department of Prosthodontics at the Eastman Institute of Oral Health in Rochester, NY

 Dr. Rossopoulos is a member of the American and International Colleges of Prosthodontists, International College of Dentists, the American Prosthodontic Society and the California and American Dental Associations. He currently serves as the past President of the Tri-County Dental Society, and is the Vice President Elect of the American Prosthodontic Society.

Dr Rossopoulos is involved with numerous charities and organizations, such as the Corona Host Lions, Olive Crest (to help abused children), CDA Foundation and Dental Care International ( an International dental mission organization).

He is in full time practice in Whittier and Corona, California for the past 30 years and has lectured and presented hands on workshops  locally, nationally and internationally in the field of dental implants, removable prosthodontics and digital dentures

Alexandra Tsigarida, D.D.S., M.S

Alexandra TsigaridaAssistant Professor

Dr. Tsigarida was born and raised in Greece. She attended the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens- Dental School where she graduated with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 2008. Following her dental training she moved to the United Kingdom where she practiced as a general dentist. A year later she entered the Periodontal program at the Ohio State University where she was appointed Chief resident. She received a Certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science degree in 2013.

Throughout her training and practice, Dr. Tsigarida has been active in promoting dentistry through her involvement in dental research focusing on the microbiology of peri-implantitis. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and received multiple awards in international research meetings. Dr. Tsigarida is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and an active member of several national dental organizations including the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration, ITI ( International Team for Implantology) and International Association of Dental Research.

Dr. Tsigarida served as an Assistant Professor at Kornberg School of Dentistry,Temple University from 2013-2015.She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontology at Eastman Institute for Oral Health and maintains a faculty practice limited to Periodontics.

John P. Zarb BA, DDS, MSc (Prostho), FRCD (C)

Dr. John P. Zarb earned his DDS at the University of Detroit Mercy in 1995. Upon graduation, he completed a one year General Practice Residency at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI, followed by graduate prosthodontic training at the University of Toronto, earning his MSc in 2002. Dr. Zarb is a staff prosthodontist in the Graduate Prosthodontic Department at the University of Toronto and at Mt Sinai Hospital in Toronto, and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester, Eastman Institute for Oral Health. He has been involved with surgical and prosthetic implant dentistry education at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Dr. Zarb joined Barrie Prosthodontics in 2003. He is a Fellow and examiner of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a Fellow in the Academy of Dentistry International, and Fellow in the Academy of Prosthodontics and a former Director of the American College of Prosthodontists.
