Message from the Director

Welcome to the University of Rochester Critical Care Fellowship! Choosing a program to be your “home away from home” as you grow into an intensivist is certainly a major decision, and I appreciate that you have taken the time to learn more about what Rochester has to offer you.

As your Program Director, I will leverage our institution's many resources to ensure you fulfill your learning goals and graduate ready to succeed in the career of your choice. During your time here you will engage in robust clinical training in a variety of university and community ICUs under the supervision of faculty intensivists with backgrounds in every discipline. You will have the flexibility to tailor your non-clinical time to your individual objectives through formal teaching opportunities, multidisciplinary quality improvement initiatives, bench or clinical research projects, or any combination of these. With ample elective time, you will develop the non-clinical skills essential for your career while simultaneously achieving clinical excellence.

But it isn't just the promise to launch you toward a bright future that sets us apart… it's our culture. I moved to Rochester as a medical student, and although I initially had no personal connections to the area, the community was so supportive that I never left! I love that my job involves collaborating with great faculty partners (particularly my peer program directors), teaching bright young trainees (especially fellows), and working as a team with our superb advanced practice providers, nurses, therapists, pharmacists, and social workers. Outside of work Rochester offers a vibrant social scene with music, arts, dining, sports, and beautiful seasons with great outdoor activities (and the snow plowing is very efficient so winter really isn't a big deal!).

I'm sorry we can't meet in person this year, but we'll do our best to connect digitally instead. Look around our website, Instagram Icon follow us on Instagram, and don't hesitate to reach out with questions. Best of luck with interviews and we look forward to hearing from you!
