Message from the Director

Mary Anne Morgan, MD

Mary Anne Morgan, MD

Greetings! I am honored to be the Fellowship Director of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Program at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where clinical excellence, research innovation, and an enduring legacy in medical education coalesce to create a collegial community of clinicians, scholars, and educators. We hope you will join us!

With the wide-ranging clinical and research opportunities here at URMC as our bedrock, my goal as Fellowship Director is to spark in fellows the curiosity, drive, and dedication needed to meet the challenges of our rapidly-evolving field, to pursue the questions yet unanswered, and to serve the needs of our diverse community. My greatest professional satisfaction is working side-by-side with fellows as they evolve into leaders in our field. I truly feel that I have the greatest job in the world!

A little about me: I am a native Rochesterian who spent the bulk of my academic training in the San Francisco Bay Area (where I subsisted on burritos and sunshine). I returned to Rochester for its focus on humanitarian aspects of medicine, not only in its approach to medical education but also in its pioneering recognition of the importance of understanding the patient within the context of their psychosocial environment. What has kept me here—and happy—is our incredible medical community, from our multi-talented PCCM faculty to our consultants, residents, and, most importantly, our fellows.

Rochester is not only an incredible place to train and practice medicine, it is also an extremely livable city, where you can buy a house, bike trails, swim in a lake, eat great food, and go to a free concert, all in one day!  We regret we can’t offer you the opportunity to come visit us in person, but hope that the information on this site will provide you with a taste of what we have to offer.

We hope to welcome you to our team!
