Curriculum

The URMC Medical Toxicology fellowship is designed to provide fellows with the knowledge and experience required to prepare fellows for Board Certification in Medical Toxicology

  • Inpatient consults: Fellows cover inpatient toxicology consults for Strong Memorial Hospital, and during in-service weeks lead table and walking rounds for the Medical Toxicology Service which includes Toxicology Faculty, EM residents, offservice resident rotators, and medical /pharmacy students. The Medical Toxicology service receives over 1000 discrete consultations per year which cover a wide range of toxic exposures.
  • Outpatient clinic: We offer outpatient toxicology consultations from providers in our community.
  • Poison Center coverage:  Our fellows field call for the Upstate Poison Control Center
  • Addiction Medicine: Our Medical Toxicology consultation service is blended with addiction medicine.  Our fellows will graduate with extensive experience managing withdrawal states, and a high degree of comfort surrounding counseling and treating patients struggling with chemical dependency.

  • Didactic Teaching: Fellows participate in weekly chapter review and didactic teaching with Board Certified Faculty in Medical Toxicology and Clinical Toxicology.
