Research

The research experience will span 12 contiguous months, starting during the second year of fellowship and elective time could be used to expand the research experience to the mid-point of the third year of fellowship. The research fellow will participate in one weekend call per month. 

Fellows will be matched with a research mentor (or mentors) based on the fellow’s interest in structured basic, translational, and/or clinical research. Fellows will have the opportunity to develop educational scholarship and quality improvement projects if interested. The goal of the research experience is to produce a thesis that can be presented at a national meeting, published, and defended for board certification, and to support the professional development of the fellow.

Fellows will be able to enhance their knowledge of the basic principles of research, including how research is conducted, assessed and critiqued through a Fellows’ Research Boot Camp which is a three day course offered by faculty in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for fellows in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, and Complex Family Planning.

Fellows will also have the opportunity to enroll in two graduate courses offered through the School of Public Health during the second year of fellowship or to complete a certificate or Master's program.
