Combined Allergy/Immunology & Rheumatology Program

The combined training program in Allergy/Immunology and Rheumatology is a three year program leading to board eligibility in both Allergy/Immunology and Rheumatology.

Curriculum

Fellows in this program are afforded the unique opportunities of a combined Division and the extensive faculty interaction and collaboration both within the Division and URMC. The curricula of both programs can be completed in the span of three years partially as a result of commonalities between the fellowships. First Year - Allergy

1. Clinical Blocks require two continuity clinics (adult and pediatrics) and four faculty clinics per week and one pediatric primary immune deficiency clinic per month
2. Research Blocks require two continuity clinics
3. One month of inpatient Rheumatology call is required in the first year and six months of Allergy call each year.
4. Clinical electives are outpatient clinics in Dermatology, Rheumatology, ENT, and Pulmonary.
5. The academic component includes conferences and didactic sessions.

1. Clinical Blocks require two continuity clinics (Allergy and Rheumatology), two Allergy Faculty clinics and one to two Rheumatology faculty clinics
2. Research Blocks require the two continuity clinics
3. Inpatient call is divided between Allergy and Rheumatology
4. Allergy clinical electives are completed and Rheumatology electives are started. See sample first and third year schedules for lists of electives.
5. The academic component includes conferences and didactic sessions.

1. Blocks are four weeks long and include on vacation block
2. Six in-patient blocks
3. Three elective blocks
4. Required electives include EMG, PM&R, PT/OT, Pediatric Rheumatology, and Orthopedic subspecialties of foot/ankle, hand, and sports medicine
5. Three Research Blocks

Both the Allergy/Immunology and Rheumatology programs participate in ERAS.  You must apply to one of the programs through ERAS and notify Tosha Churchill, Fellowship Program Administrator, of your intention to apply for the combined program.
