Living in Allegany/Livingston/Steuben Counties

The tri-county area is comprised of many small, quiet towns that offer close-knit communities, a low cost of living, safety, and excellent schools for residents with children. The abundant beauty and recreational activities include hiking in Letchworth State Park and other amazing trails, boating and other water sports on the Finger Lakes, wineries, breweries, museums, farmers markets, and quaint restaurants. A more expansive selection of restaurants and nightlife is available in Geneseo, NY, only 20 miles from the residency clinic and home to a large state university campus.

Numerous short-term rental housing options are available for residents and their families in the Dansville/Hornell area. Alstom, a global leader in railroad car manufacturing, opened a new plant facility in Hornell in June 2025. Temporary workers and their families coming from Europe support several local apartment complexes and single-family homes for rent, as well as retail markets. Furnished and unfurnished housing are both available. Many additional housing options are also available in Geneseo, NY.

The travel time to the city of Rochester on the interstate is only an hour from Dansville, making urban recreation options also easily available.
