Summer Registration Requirement for PhD Students

Per the Regulations and University Policies Concerning Graduate Study, a graduate student must maintain continuous enrollment by registering each academic year semester. In addition to the fall and spring semesters, SMD requires summer registration for all full-time PhD students. Students must register for IND 990: doctoral summer in residence. It is generally expected that PhD students will not enroll in courses for credit during the summer, as the PhD scholarship does not provide funding for summer coursework. If enrolling in summer courses for credit is necessary, the program coordinator should discuss this with GEPA.
