Academic Use Agreement

Non-Commercial MATERIAL License

The University of Rochester (“Rochester”) is willing to make the “Deaf Community Communication Catalog (DC3)” related to UR Tech ID 6-25054 (hereinafter “MATERIAL”) available to you (“Recipient”) under the following terms and conditions:  

  1. The above MATERIAL is the exclusive property of Rochester and is made available as a service to the research community. The MATERIAL is a research tool still in the development stage and is being provided “as is” without any support, services or improvements. Rochester makes no representations and extends no warranties or indemnities of any kind.
  2. The MATERIAL will be used for teaching or not-for-profit research purposes only. The Recipient agrees not to use the MATERIAL for diagnosis, treatment, cure, prevention or mitigation of disease or any other conditions in man.  The Recipient agrees that the MATERIAL is not intended to substitute for care by a licensed healthcare professional.
  3. The MATERIAL will not be further distributed to others without Rochester's written consent. The Recipient shall refer any request for the MATERIAL to the Rochester office of technology transfer, UR Ventures at techtransfer@urmc.rochester.edu.
  4. Recipient agrees not to reverse engineer, reverse assemble, reverse compile, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to modify the source code.
  5. Recipient is allowed to make non-substantive formatting modifications to the MATERIAL.  Recipient further acknowledges that any modifications created based on the MATERIAL will be considered a derivative work of the MATERIAL and owned by Rochester, and Recipient shall deliver a copy of such derivate work to Rochester.
  6. The Recipient agrees to acknowledge the source and ownership of the MATERIAL in any publications.
  7. Recipient will use the MATERIAL in compliance with all applicable laws, policies and regulations including, but not limited to, any approvals, informed consent, patient confidentiality principles and any export regulations.

Upon acceptance of the terms and conditions, Rochester grants to Recipient a royalty-free, nonexclusive and nontransferable license to use and reproduce the MATERIAL.  This license does not include the right to make derivatives of the MATERIAL. Rochester has the right to terminate this license at its sole discretion at any time.  

By clicking “Submit” or by otherwise obtaining a copy of the MATERIAL, you agree to the terms and conditions of this Academic Use Agreement.
