Clinical Responsibilities

The fellow will work approximately 20 clinical hours per week at either the University of Rochester Medical Center or one of our affiliated regional hospitals. Moonlighting is usually available.

The clinical schedule will contain a variety of shifts including working with residents and advanced practice providers in addition to shifts as a solo physician. This allows for teaching opportunities as well as experiencing shifts as an independent attending. 

The fellow will perform > 1000 ultrasound examinations during the year long fellowship. The SMH sees greater than 100k patients per year.

Strong Memorial Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center sees a broad diversity of patients, and includes a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department. The ED sees approximately 100,000 patient visits per year. Our fellows are exposed to a diverse patient population with a broad scope of pathology, enhancing the development of both clinical and ultrasound expertise.

  • Rural/outlying community hospitals
  • A free-standing ED
