About the Program

Clinical

  • Shift requirement – 564 hours/year, location to be determined by chair and fellow (47 weeks)
  • Clinical teaching – 8 hours/week, bedside medical student and resident teaching, direct observation (47 weeks)
  • Vacation (4 weeks)
  • CME (1 week)

Education

  • Masters in health professions education required at the Warner School of Education
    • Tuition benefits from University to cover 95%, rest covered by department
  • Annual attendance to CORD or other academic conference (SAEM, etc)
  • ​Biweekly fellowship education conference with education faculty

Administration

  • Practical experience with program evaluation, individual feedback and evaluation, curriculum development and review
  • Attendance at monthly program evaluation committee for residency, monthly faculty meeting, grading committee for clerkship, clinical competency committee (C3) meetings, annual curriculum review meeting for clerkship and residency 

Teaching responsibilities/opportunities

  • Didactic teaching experiences in different modalities and different level of learners
    • Lecture based, small group based, lab based, simulation
  • Clinical teaching within required emergency medicine clerkship
  • Course development and creation
    • Active role in successful interning course (4th medical student course)
