This procedure is performed to remove kidney stones from the body when they cannot pass on their own. The procedure is minimally invasive where a scope is inserted through a small incision in the back to remove the stones. This surgery is for kidney stones that are often much larger and not able to pass on their own. Our model allows surgeons to practice accessing the proper region of the kidney’s urinary collecting system based on where the stone is located. Our model can be both generic to practice access or can be patient-specific from CT scans to allow the surgeon to rehearse a patient’s actual case prior to their surgery.
