Summer Fellowship in Immunological Sciences Research
Summer Fellowship in Immunological Sciences Research
The UR Institute for Immunological Sciences will fund two Summer Research Fellowships, designated as the Grinspoon Research Fellowships, to support transdisciplinary research experiences for rising sophomore and junior undergraduate students interested in working in the following areas:
- Examine mechanisms of innate and adaptive immune responses in homeostasis and disease.
- Develop immune-based interventions and identify novel biomarkers.
- Investigate host-pathogen interaction and host-microbiome interactions.
- Apply systematic genome screening and computational/AI-modeling to uncover disease mechanisms.
Students from STEM backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The goal of the program is to provide a 15-week summer research opportunity to students who are passionate about solving fundamental challenges in human health.
Successful students will be selected to receive $10,000 to cover the cost of their housing, food, transportation, or other academic costs while conducting summer research. Unused funds can be carried forward with the program director's approval.
Research mentors at URMC or UR must be identified, and their consent confirmed in the application to be eligible for this opportunity. Applicants are expected to complete 600 hours of research between May 18–August 31, 2026.
