Our ACGME-accredited Neuromuscular Fellowship offers advanced training across the full spectrum of neuromuscular medicine. Fellows gain hands-on experience in diverse specialty clinics, including ALS, muscular dystrophies, myasthenia gravis, peripheral neuropathies, motor neuron disease, myopathies, and genetic neuromuscular disorders. (Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Clinic / Neuromuscular Clinic, Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT) Inherited Neuropathy Clinic, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Clinic, ALS Clinic, and Neuropathy Clinic).
We are at the forefront of innovation in neuromuscular diagnostics and care. Fellows train on state-of-the-art electrodiagnostic equipment, neuromuscular ultrasound, and single fiber EMG, gaining skills in technologies increasingly sought after in academic and clinical practice. Our program serves as a regional resource for expertise—residents and visiting physicians from other centers come to Rochester to learn these advanced techniques.
Certification Opportunities
Upon successful completion of the fellowship, fellows are eligible for certification in Neuromuscular Medicine through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Fellows are also eligible for certification through the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM), as well as the ABEM Neuromuscular Ultrasound (NMUS) Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ). These certification opportunities recognize advanced expertise in neuromuscular and electrodiagnostic medicine and provide fellows with valuable credentials as they pursue careers in academic medicine, clinical practice, and subspecialty care.
