Richard T. Moxley, III Rare Disease Lectureship
A Fascinating Look at FUS and the Future of ALS Research-Happening Here in New York: We were thrilled to welcome Dr. Neil Shneider, MD, PhD, from Columbia University, as our featured speaker for the 9th Annual Richard T. Moxley III, MD, Rare Disease Lectureship. Dr. Shneider shared a fascinating presentation on the FUS gene and its connection to ALS, as well as the exciting clinical trials currently underway. Dr. Shneider provided an engaging look at the latest research and advancements in the field, offering an inspiring glimpse into the future of ALS research and treatment. His presentation sparked thoughtful discussion and plenty to consider.

Our fellows benefit from mentorship by leaders in the field. Dr. Eric Logigian, Director of the Neuromuscular Electrodiagnostic Laboratory at URMC, recipient of the Faculty Teaching Award, exemplifies the passion and dedication our faculty brings to training the next generation.
Equipment, Technologists and Staff
- EMG: 7 state of the art net-worked Cadwell EMG machines linked to an EMG database accessible to all fellows, attendings and technician computers
- Neuromuscular ultrasound program
- A highly experienced group of dedicated EMG technologists
- Several Physical therapists with expertise in clinical care and clinical research/trials in a variety of pediatric and adult neuromuscular diseases
Candidates
Candidates should be in the process of successfully completing an accredited training program in neurology, child neurology, or physical medicine & rehabilitation in the U.S. or Canada and have a major interest in Neuromuscular diseases. Beyond fellowship, they may have practice or academic aspirations. Either way, this ACGME-accredited fellowship meets eligibility requirements for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) sub-specialty board in Neuromuscular Medicine.

We once again ranked first in the Rochester region, and 11th overall in New York State—up from 15th last year. Strong was recognized as High Performing in six specialties—doubling last year’s total— and together, Highland and SMH were recognized as High Performing in 26 procedures and conditions.
