Blunt Nerve Trauma

The most common causes of blunt nerve trauma include:

  • Mechanical fail: A hard fall can cause injury to the nerves in the area on impact.
  • Bone fracture: When a bone breaks and is out of its natural alignment, it can cause injury to the surrounding nerve.
  • Gunshot wound: A bullet can cause major injury to any nerves it comes into contact with.
  • Shoulder dislocation: Your shoulder is located near a large group of nerve called the brachial plexus. If the shoulder dislocates, it can cause these nerves to stretch.

There is also the category of sharp nerve trauma, which most often refers to damage done to a nerve due to a penetrating knife.
