We're glad you've chosen to give your new family a Strong Beginning! We offer a variety of classes for you and your support person.
Online classes are offered in English and Spanish. Closed captions are also available. In-person classes are offered in English with interpretation services if requested.

OB/GYN Service Tour
It is suggested that you register for this class approximately three months prior to your due date. Due to space constraints, registration is limited to two adults. If you are registering for the prepared childbirth class, a tour to the maternity unit is included.
- Take part in a walking tour of the Obstetric Service
- Learn about what to expect during your hospital stay
Fee: There is no charge for this class, but pre-registration is required.
Time & location: Select “Online Registration” to view upcoming dates and times. Once Registration is complete, you will receive an email containing location instructions.

In-Person Classes
Prepared Childbirth Class and Tour
Class is held in-person and hosted by a certified nurse. This class also includes a tour of the Maternity Units. Therefore, there is no need to sign up for the In-Person tours. Topics for this class include:
- Process of labor
- Relaxation/ Breathing techniques
Fee: 175.00 (includes support person)
Time: 9:00am-4:00pm. unless otherwise noted, classes are held in the Lund Room; third floor of the Medical Center.

Online Registration
Prepared Childbirth Class and Tour (Two Day Series)
Please plan to attend both days of the series. This class also includes a tour of the Maternity Units. Therefore, there is no need to sign up for the In-Person tours. Topics for this class include:

Fee: 175.00 (includes support person)

This class is held via ZOOM and hosted by a certified lactation consultant. Topics include:
- How breastfeeding works: milk production, colostrum, breastmilk qualities.
- How to breastfeed: skin-to-skin, latching, breastfeeding positions, feeding cues.
- Breast care and breastfeeding lifestyle.
- Breastfeeding support, resources, and more!

This class is a self-directed online course that will help you:
- Newborn traits: procedures, appearance, reflexes, senses, play & development
- Crying and comforting: crying patterns, comfort techniques, coping with crying
- Newborn care & safety: diapering, bathing, car safety, infant CPR, and more!

Refund/Cancellation Policy
In the event you need to cancel, please call the OB/GYN Service Office at (585) 275-4058. Refunds will be granted if you notify us 24 hours prior to your class. Classes may be cancelled if fewer than 3 participants are registered. In this instance, full refunds will be granted. Any issued refunds can be expected within 30 days of cancellation. Office Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
