About UR Medicine Spine Center

Treating conditions of the spine takes a team of physicians with a wide range of specialties and expertise. Some spine issues are present at birth, while others reveal themselves later in life. Some come from injuries sustained on a sports field or in an auto accident. Others come from the day-to-day activities of working people, which eventually lead to arthritis late in life.

To treat so many different kinds of spine conditions, our nine-county area needs comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care, provided by physicians with the longest history of treating conditions of the spine in the region. The UR Medicine Spine Center provides nationally recognized orthopaedic surgeons and physical medicine specialists (physiatrists) who specialize in complex spine surgery and state-of-the-art non-surgical care.

We offer a complete spectrum of treatments—from education and conservative rehabilitation measures to minimally invasive procedures, as well as the skill and expertise to perform the most complex surgeries. More than 19,000 patients come to the UR Medicine Spine Center each year, and our physicians help each of them by relieving pain, healing the injury or correcting a congenital issue—many times without surgery.

Our involvement in research and education means our patients get access to clinically effective treatments that use the newest technologies, including computer-guided surgery, minimal incision surgery, minimally invasive surgery, physical therapy and rehabilitation, and more complex procedures.
